Locating your phone is good. Securing it is even better. As soon as you realize your phone is missing, the priority is to block access to your personal information.
For an iPhone, go back to iCloud and activate “Lost Mode” . With one click, the device locks, Apple Pay is disabled, and a personalized message can be displayed on the screen — with a contact number, for example.
For an Android device, the “Find my device” page also offers a remote locking option, which is just as effective.
And if you think the phone is permanently lost? Note your IMEI number (dial *#06# from any phone to find it) and report it to your operator, who can make the device unusable on all networks.
Next time, you’ll know exactly what to do — and you’ll keep your cool.
