Crystal chandeliers sparkled above white roses purchased with money stolen from people who had trusted Ethan.
The moment I stepped into the ballroom, the string quartet stumbled into silence.
Bianca waited at the altar beneath a cathedral-length veil.
Ethan looked straight at me.
“You actually came.”
“You invited me.”
Guests slowly turned toward us.
Three board members stood first.
Two detectives Ethan had mistaken for investors followed.
Bianca tightened her grip on the bouquet.
“Get her out of here.”
Before anyone moved, Maya appeared beside the projection booth.
“Not until the shareholders finish their emergency meeting.”
The enormous screen behind the altar switched from engagement photographs to hospital security footage.
Bianca appeared on-screen blocking my path inside the parking garage.
Her recorded voice echoed throughout the ballroom.
“You should have disappeared when Ethan left you.”
The footage showed her shoving me backward before I struck the concrete barrier and collapsed.
A wave of shocked whispers spread across the room.
“That video is fake!” Bianca shouted.
Detective Ramirez stepped forward.
“The recording was obtained directly from the hospital’s security server. Ms. Vale, you’re under arrest for assault and endangering an unborn child.”
Bianca tried to run.
Her veil snagged on a chair before officers stopped her near the wedding cake.
Ethan slowly retreated.
“Claire… I didn’t know she was going to hurt you.”
“You knew she was following me,” I replied. “I saved your messages.”
The projection screen changed again.
One message appeared for everyone to read.
Scare her. Make sure she signs before the baby complicates everything.
The ballroom became completely silent.
Ethan rushed toward the control console, but Detective Ramirez blocked his path.
Maya handed a signed resolution to the chairman of the board.
He addressed the room.
